Sharrows take centre ground in Ajax.

November 24th, 2009 · No Comments · As Seen

I caught a strange sight in Ajax. It confused me. I have no doubt it will strike even more confusion into drivers. On northbound Monarch Avenue in Ajax, south of Bayly Street, the sharrows abut the the centre stripe as opposed to what we are used to, abutting the curb. It was a dark morning so I could not grab a pic with my cell phone. I have hypothesized that moving cyclists to the centre would reduce risks yet have to wonder how these sharrows in Ajax will be interpreted. Are drivers supposed to hug the curb or give the curb a wide berth? Southbound Monarch has the sharrows abutting the curb.
